Well, the last month has really been a blur...

The open mic at Doe Bay is still going strong, and although it’s a lousy place to hear or play music, it remains a great place to socialize for Eastsiders...

Last Monday featured tunes by Sean and Mike on Jews Harps, Carlos the Host, Katie Gray, and a bunch of 2-year-olds who stole the show...

Katie Gray recently had a private CD-release party at Jim Bredouw’s studio for all the folks who worked on the project...
We all sat and intently listened to the CD track-by-track--something I haven’t done since the psycadelic days...
The CD sounds great, and she’ll be doing a public CD-release party at the Outlook Inn in the near future.
Keep an eye out on the Calendar section and/or these pages for details...

There are some interesting upcoming events coming up on the island...

Friday and Saturday nights, December 1/2, The Olga Symphony will be playing their yearly event at The Orcas Center...

On Thursday, December 7th, 2006: Seattle singer/songwriter extraordinaire Jim Page plays the “Live at Olga Energetic Club” concert series in beautiful downtown Olga. I first met Jim during my school days at UC Berkeley 30 years ago (!), so it’ll be great to see what he’s been up to..

More great news.....
The Tiptons play the same venue on Sunday, December 10th...
From their website:

“THE TIPTONS are an all-female sax quartet with percussion, based in New York and Seattle. The group features Jessica Lurie and Amy Denio, original members and lead composers of the internationally renowned Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet (BTMSQ), along with Tobi Stone, Tina Richerson and percussionist Elizabeth Pupo-Walker. Following their 2004 release of TSUNAMI, they were featured on "The Next Big Thing" (National Public Radio), busking in the subway of New York. Since then, they’ve performed at festivals throughout North America and and have toured Europe 4 times (70 concerts!)  In October 2005, they self-released DRIVE, a fantastic, dynamic and lush new CD of original material. It includes one cover song from New Orleans, featuring special guest Artis the Spoonman.”

It’s never too early to buy tickets for David Lindley at the San Juan Community Theater on Monday, February 26th, 2007...

This one will rank right up there with Emmylou and Ricky Skaggs at the Grange, Doc Watson at the SJ County Fairgrounds, and Steven Stills drunkenly sitting it at the old Buck n’ Doe in Deer Harbor...

For those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Dave’s work, be rest assured you’ve heard him a zillion times and not known it...
He’s the slide guitarist on Jackson Browne’s hits, the fiddler on the Youngblood’s “Darkness Darkness”, and has graced countless other CDs in your collection...

There are rumors that he might play at the Orcas Center as well...

OK, enough for now...
Enjoy the leftovers...
