Last night was pretty cool at the Olga Community Hall in beautiful downtown Olga....
Yeah, I had the best seat in the house, playing mandolin with Don and Theresa Dirksen and Don Share on guitar. But this was a night I would have loved to be a part of the audience, taking in the Eastside hospitality and the cool assemblage of old-time Islanders.
This night was very reminiscent of some old musical gatherings from the past at The Grange (the old Orcas Center), the Orcas Hotel, or the Deer Harbor Dance Hall....
Rich Becker cooked up some amazing pizzas, and you could smell the Hall from 500 feet away....
Kudos to my bandmates, as we
managed to pull together 2 sets
with one evening of rehearsal.
Not a bad first gig at all....
Keep an eye on the Calendar
for future shows at
the Energetic Club. Musicians
who have expressed interest in
playing include Carolyn Cruso,
Foghorn Stringband, Jim Page,
Robert Blake, and a few others...
Should be a fun place to hear some
tunes, eat some pizza, and see old
friends...
